District of Columbia enrollment dates and deadlines
District of Columbia residents can apply for Affordable Care Act (ACA) health insurance plans, also known as Obamacare plans, during the annual Open Enrollment Period, which usually occurs from November 1 – December 15 each year.
If you don’t have health insurance, an ACA health plan could be the right coverage for you and your loved ones. All ACA plans are required to cover 10 essential benefits, including emergency services, maternity care, and prescription drugs.
You may also be eligible for premium tax subsidies, which could reduce the cost of your monthly premiums. Some Americans may even qualify for $0 premium bronze and silver plans.1
If you miss Open Enrollment, you’ll have to wait until you qualify for a Special Enrollment Period, which involves experiencing certain life events, like getting married, relocating to a new home, having a child, or losing your health coverage. The Federal government may open a Special Enrollment Period as well.
